Readers’ Corner: Training to Climb Mt. Fuji

I started training because I’m going to climb Mt. Fuji in late August. Since I usually work from home, I haven’t been very active. I’ve gained some weight, and my waist is getting larger. I decided to begin with something easy. Today, I climbed a small hill at a nearby park. It took 30 minutes. I still get out of breath easily when I climb stairs, but I heard that this kind of exercise is good training for hiking. It was the day after it rained, so the air felt fresh. I even saw a Taiwanese squirrel run right in front of me. I’m looking forward to getting stronger little by little.   (112 words)
