Delicious and Unusual Food

Spain is known for paella, a rice dish with seafood or meat, but it has many other kinds of food, too. You can order small plates of food called “tapas” at restaurants and bars, and if you really like something, you can order a bigger plate. We stayed near the coast, and there was lots of good seafood. We had sardines, octopus, mackerel, sea bass, and razor shell clams. One restaurant served us three different kinds of shrimp, and they were all delicious. At another restaurant, we saw something on the menu that really surprised us. No one eats this in the U.S. or in Japan, so we decided to try it. It was deep-fried sea anemone! It tasted like something between fish and seaweed. It’s popular in the south of Spain, but once was enough for us.   (138 words)
