Typhoon 10 has been in the news for about a week now. It is called Typhoon Shanshan outside Japan, and it is one of the slowest-moving typhoons ever. The early weather maps showed it hitting the Kansai area by August 28, but it changed direction and hit southern Kyushu on August 29. The winds were over 100 kilometers per hour. Some houses lost their roofs, and some stores lost their shutters. The wind was bad, but the rain was even worse. Some places got more than 400 millimeters of rain in one day. There have been landslides and flooding in many parts of Japan. Shanshan is no longer a typhoon. It’s a tropical storm now. Even so, you need to be careful.
